Community Engagement for IT at UBC is the process by which the goals, needs and required outcomes for stakeholders in our communities are captured and incorporated into information sharing, planning, decision making and delivery of IT services for the greater benefit of the institution.
Goals for Engagement
As part of the IT @ UBC Community Engagement strategy, the goals include:
- Focus on outcomes and values derived from the solutions and services that IT @ UBC provides to its customers. Understand the need and what is the perceived as value by the end-users.
- In order to understand who we're engaging with and for what purpose, we coordinate, align, and optimize IT @ UBC engagement activities.
- Identify methods to measure the quality of engagement and to ensure the right outcomes.
Benefits of Engagement
There are significant benefits for IT to stay engaged and connected with the university community as well as other IT partners within and outside the institution.
- The community will have a better understanding of IT offerings and how they can be accessed.
- IT understands how technology can enable the goals and objectives set for the institution and the various faculties and units.
- More client centric partnerships and collaboration within community. e.g. co-sponsorship of initiatives. Pool our expertise and capacity together to achieve greater outcomes.
- Humanizing IT for our stakeholders with the goal of ensuring the right connections, relationships and engagement activities.
