Purpose
This standard aims to achieve consistency around the data collected for UBC Regional Locations, and the format in which it is collected and stored across the University.
This standard applies to all UBC applications collecting and using Regional Locations. Exceptions are listed in the Dispensation section.
Standard
Definition: A UBC Regional Location is a site other than UBC's two main Campuses, that is owned or leased by UBC, or where UBC staff or faculty work, or where UBC owns assets.

Municipality | The name of the municipality assigned to a given site by an address authority. |
Postal Code | Postal Code assigned by Canada Post for the purposes to deliver mail. |
Province | Country Sub-Division Code (ISO 3166-2) |
Country | Name of Country (ISO 3166-1) |
Managing Organization (Required) | The organization that manages the space (e.g. UBC, Fraser Health, Vancouver Coastal Health, Workers Compensation Board) |
Regional Location Code (Required) | Short Code or acronym that is used for Regional Locations |
Regional Location Type (Required) | A descriptor for the location with respect to UBC's relationship with the site |
Real Property Type (Optional) | A description of the type of ownership or contractual relationship of UBC's with respect to buildings, lands, or sites (Real Property). |
Accepted Data Values for Regional Location Status

Pending | The location is being prepared but not active yet |

Licensed from UBC | License is a contractual right to use land or a building for a specific purpose |

Compliance
This standard about Regional Locations must be complied with every stage of the data lifecycle with the exception of any dispensations (see Dispensation section):
- All applications must collect Regional Locations as recommended in this standard.
- Enterprise Data Integration must adopt this standard.
Dispensation
Legacy systems are exempt from this data standard. Examples of legacy systems are:
- Student Information System (SIS)
As systems are replaced, adoption of this standard is required.
As existing systems change to adopt this standard, the Enterprise Data Governance team needs to be informed.
