Purpose

Architectural visualizations provide graphic representations that facilitate the visual communication of knowledge. This guideline provides recommendations for colour coding a signal state within architectural visualizations. Conformance to this guideline will allow users to identify and understand the signified meaning of a colour. Proper and consistent signal state colour coding will result in efficiency and accuracy of communicated visualizations across stakeholders, and project teams.

Guideline

The recommended colour codes for signal state were informed with consideration to:

  • Cultural agnosticism
  • Intuitive, clear, and fit for purpose
  • Transparent to external parties, by using common colour signifiers
  • Alignment with concepts of project management, technical, and business audiences
  • Review of industry norms related to cyber security and frameworks

The color scheme is based on the additive colour model, RGB, simple color hues (primary and secondary) as follows:

  • RGB nomenclature: R=Red, G=Green, B=Blue
General Colour Codes

An Assignable Role is a collection of permissions defined for a system that can be assigned to specific users in specific context.
