Integrated Reporting

Historically, there has been no single repository of institutional data that has met the needs of administrative and academic leadership at UBC. This has made it challenging for users to access and analyze institutional data in a timely and effective manner, and resulted in inconsistent reporting of information and limited data driven decision making ability.

Over the next five years, the Integrated Reporting Program will seek to address these challenges by implementing integrated analysis and data management solutions to enable more effective access and insight into institutional data. More specifically, the Integrated Reporting Program will:

  • Implement a university-wide Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) based on Oracle and other industry leading technologies that will house in a single repository, multi-subject, time variant, and conformed institutional data
  • Enable users with self-service reporting capabilities via the SERA (System of Enterprise Reporting and Analytics) interface to easily navigate, search and conduct data analysis and reporting
  • Establish university-wide data governance over this information including the documentation of data definitions and establishment of data stewards
  • Ensure that institutional data brought into the EDW is clean, conformed, secure and well-managed, treating it as an asset of the University

The first major release of the Integrated Reporting Program will focus on the integration of finance and student data. ;Additional subject areas will be added in subsequent releases. The roadmap can be found here.
