Purpose
The Research IT Support Advisory Group provides guidance to UBC IT and other parts of UBC's IT community how to offer information technology solutions that can meet the IT support needs of our researcher community.
Objectives
This Steering Committee does not yet exist at UBC, although it flourishes at many other universities. Researchers at UBC are sometimes supported by their Faculty or Department IT groups, but are often left to their own devices. Different researchers have different needs, from the hardware-intense High Performance Computing research to software-dependent research collaborations.
The Executive Steering Committee has approved the creation of a Research IT Support Advisory Group and work is under way between the VP Research Office, UBC IT and other IT groups at UBC to establish this governance committee.
